Overview
The Council of the Strata Company is elected at every Annual General Meeting. Any owner of a lot that is listed on the title, can become a Council member of the Strata Company. There are two main scenarios where an owner would complete a Council Nomination form:
- If a lot owned by a sole owner cannot attend a meeting, they can submit a Council nomination form, nominating either another owner or themselves for a position on Council. Most commonly this might be used to nominate themselves in the event that they cannot attend the meeting in person.
- If a lot has multiple co-owners, then all co-owners must agree to nominate one of the owners listed on the title of their lot to be nominated to join the Council of the Strata Company.
If an owner receives a nomination but cannot be, or is not present at the meeting, or if that Owner is an incorporated owner, then they must Consent to any nomination in writing before the nomination can be accepted.
Below you can find a form that can be filled out, to nominate yourself or another owner for a position on the Council, as well as the ability to consent to receiving a nomination to be on the Council.
Important Information
- Any owner, whether they be a natural person or an incorporated owner, can be nominated to join the Council.
- An incorporated owner must consent to the nomination in writing, as they physically cannot attend a meeting (their proxy holder can not accept the nomination verbally).
- In the case where a lot has multiple owners on the title, only one of those owners may join the Council representing that lot, and all co-owners listed on that title MUST agree to nominate one from among their number be represented on the Council.
- If possible, please complete and return the below form well before the general meeting and confirm its safe receipt.
- An incorrectly completed nomination or acceptance form may be invalid.
