If a strata company wishes to install CCTV, it is imperative that the system is fully compliant with the Surveillance Devices Act 1998 (see link below).
In addition, ESM would recommend seeking professional advice, as we are not experts on the below legislation. ESM further recommend having a by-law put in place, which sets out the parameters of the CCTV system and its use. It’s also advisable that the by-law specifies who can view the footage, and if the Strata Company can charge for this. Your Strata Manager can seek a quote from a legal practitioner to create a by-law to this effect.
